The aim of my photography is to capture the essence of the people in front of my lens. Whether that is candid interactions of people attending events such as exhibition openings, food festivals. or a day at the races, I feel that a candid picture of these occasions tells so much more of a story then a posed one ever could.

Similarly when I am shooting a gig, I see my job as capturing the magic and passion of the musician on stage the form of a photograph. All of the work and energy that goes into a stage performance I want to convey in my music shots. I use the stage lights to my benefit and focus on performers expressions in order to bring the fans and viewers of the photos right to stage front where I am standing as I am pressing the shutter button.

Although my portraits are more posed than I would do with my events or music, they are still about delving down into the true individual and tapping into that. If that is cheeky, naughty, funny, laid back or poised, my job is to channel that into a great image and create a connection between the viewer and the final image.
